Hi! We would like to invite you to submit papers for the Open Panel *The Landscape and Strategies to Combat Disinformation in Comparative Perspective <https://wc2023.ipsa.org/wc/panel/landscape-and-strategies-combat-disinformation-comparative-perspective>* *,* which will take place at the *IPSA World Congress* in Buenos Aires, July 15-19, 2023. Submissions can be made until January 18, through the event website <https://wc2023.ipsa.org/wc/home>. Here is the summary of the panel: *The Landscape and Strategies to Combat Disinformation in Comparative Perspective* *The social transformations that affected the functioning of politics in the global scenario in the last decade have been raising warnings about the survival of democratic regimes, especially with the emergence of actors and political groups that do not show appreciation nor commitment to democracy. Social rights backlash, polarization and fierce conflicts within civil society are impacting policy outcomes, all in the midst of the emergence and increasingly central force of the internet and social media as spaces of power struggles. Disinformation, hateful, intolerant and polarizing speeches have been mobilized as a political propaganda strategy that goes beyond electoral contexts. In this perspective, and taking into account the oscillations in time and in the different regional and local realities, it is in the interest of this space to foster this discussion and identify the role of civil society, agents and political institutions, and how social science and political science can contribute to a more purposeful agenda, in order to amplify voices and dialogues for coping strategies for these phenomena.* Best regards!
