Databases for internet research?
Aloha all, What databases do you find most useful for internet research? (I'm interested in virtual communities, online gaming communities, internet culture and communication, if that helps narrow it down a bit). Thank you very much! Best, Holiday
We have collected and used the used the CrimeBB database [0] which is also available to other academics along with our other datasets [1]. The CrimeBB database contains over 40million posts from six underground forums and is constantly being updated to reflect the current posts on those forums. Some significant parts of those forums are devoted to online gaming (and particularly to various kinds of cheating in online games). We would be delighted to share this database with other academics under the terms of our data sharing licence [2]. We also have a legal framework for sharing sensitive data of this sort with academics, and for third parties to give us data to share with academics. If anyone wants someone to handle the paperwork around data sharing for them (for cybecrime related data) then we would be happy to do so.
