Event info: What: Creating a "Climate" of Information Access: How Students Are Tackling Climate Change on Wikipedia * When: Monday, March 27, 9:00 AM Pacific * Description: The realities of climate change are becoming increasingly present and having palpable consequences throughout the globe. As the effects of climate change become more prevalent, it's critical that people have access to reliable, current, and clear information about climate change. In this session, you'll learn how students at the post-secondary level are improving content related to climate change on Wikipedia as part of their coursework. Helaine Blumenthal, Senior Program Manager at Wiki Education, will speak generally about the immense impact student editing is having on Wikipedia. She'll be joined by three faculty whose students are directly tackling topics related to climate change on Wikipedia. Jennifer Glass is Associate Professor in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology. Julio Postigo is Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at Indiana University. Pam Rittelmeyer is a Post-doctoral Researcher at the University of California, Davis.
