Trust & Safety (T&S) refers to the teams, technology and corporate function(s) at internet companies and service providers dedicated to ensuring that users are protected from unwanted or harmful experiences. Key functions include Policy, which is the team developing the company’s rules to govern its products, platforms and services, and Enforcement or Operations, the teams that work on ensuring these rules are followed. Large companies may include engineering, machine learning, data science, threat intelligence, research and communications capabilities that support and augment these two core elements. About the Trust and Safety Foundation: The Trust and Safety Foundation <https://trustandsafetyfoundation.org/> (TSF) is a 501(c)(3) non-partisan, charitable organization with the mission to convene stakeholders, share knowledge, and engage in activities that facilitate meaningful advancements in trust and safety. TSF created the Trust & Safety Research Coalition in furtherance of TSF’s role as a bridge between industry researchers, academic researchers, the trust and safety professional community, the technology industry, civil society, and other public interest groups. TSF’s vision for the Coalition is to convene key stakeholders to engage in dialogue and collaboration with the aim of improving society’s understanding and furthering the field of trust and safety. Right now, the Research Coalition hosts three Research Committees: the Global Majority Research Committee, the Psychological Health Research Committee, and the Tooling Research Committee.
