Colleagues - We need to establish an accurate "head count" for the Friday evening dinner by noon Thursday of this week. As stated on the conference website, this dinner is not included in the conference registration fee, and requires a separate $25 registration. We now need those who may have overlooked the separate registration to register for the dinner, if they (you) so desire. If you have already registered for dinner, you should have received confirmation from Professional Education & Conference Planning (unless you did so too recently to have received confirmation via return mail). For those still "on the fence," please know that we cannot guarantee that dinner tickets will be available for those who choose not to register/pay until their arrival at the conference. We have advised all who are planning to pay their conference fee upon arrival in Minneapolis to register on the website in order to secure their space at what is proving to be a popular event. The same advice applies to the dinner. If you have not yet registered for the dinner, but DO wish to attend, please proceed to http://pware.com/index.cfm?eventdisp=02-2703&clientid=2383 and click on the "Participant Registration for Friday Evening Dinner" link. Once there, you will be able to register yourself and any guests. You do not need to pay by credit card, and you may still pay upon your arrival, should you need to do so. Please complete dinner registrations by noon Thursday (that's CST, United States time for our overseas colleagues). If finances (or their lack) present the sole obstacle to your joining us forthis meal, the Association has determined to purchase a limited number of dinner tickets for people who otherwise would not be able to attend. These funds will be distributed to the following "priority pools" of individuals (who must already be registered for the conference) on a first-come-first-served basis. POOL 1. Graduate students traveling from outside the United States POOL 2. International travelers OR Graduate students traveling from within the United States POOL 3. All others. Please forward a request for consideration to "dinner@logie.net" with a subject line which lists your name and your pool (e.g. "Subject: John Logie, Pool 3"). No additional information is needed. If selected, you will receive a dinner ticket along with your conference badge upon your arrival at the conference. NOTE: REPLIES POSTED TO THE AIR-L LIST WILL NOT RECEIVE TICKETS. ALL REQUESTS MUST BE SENT to "dinner@logie.net" BY THURSDAY at NOON CST. Best, -- John Logie Internet Research 2.0 Conference Coordinator Department of Rhetoric University of Minnesota
