Dear Sarah, Thank you for the informative email about the EU's Political Advertising Regulation. I appreciate you bringing this to the attention and providing the link to the draft agreement. Thank you again for your consideration. Sincerely, Behrooz On Fri, Feb 16, 2024 at 1:03 PM Eskens, S.J. (Sarah) <s.j.eskens@vu.nl> wrote:
Dear Behrooz,
The EU legislator is working on a Political Advertising Regulation, which will regulate how political actors such as parties or politicians can advertise on social media (and in other media, such as television or even offline). The concept of political advertising will be broad and capture many different political messages. The rules will apply directly in each EU Member State. There is currently a political agreement between the co-legislators but the final act should still be formally adopted by the legislator. The text of the political agreement can be found here: https://www.consilium.europa.eu/media/69097/st17037-en23.pdf but I would recommend waiting for the final act before you analyze the rules.
Kind regards,
Sarah

Dear AIR-L Members,
I am writing to solicit your expertise on a research project exploring the regulations and protocols governing how politicians utilize social media platforms across different countries. A friend of mine is currently conducting a content analysis on this topic and asked me for a database or website collecting these protocols/policies.
He wants to know whether countries have established protocols or policies specifically concerning the use of social media by governmental bodies, governmental institutions, and government-affiliated members (including congress members, governors, etc). For example, which platform they can use or what content they can share, as a governmental representative.
If your country has established protocols or policies related to this topic, we would be incredibly grateful if you could share any relevant information or resources (e.g. links to official documents or government websites outlining these protocols).
Sincerely, Behrooz
