Hi Franklin, Aram, and all, For several years, I worked with colleagues to develop what became an accidental MOOC. We had pre-service and practicing educators work with students in K-12 to create content and share it on Twitter through the #WalkMyWorld hashtag. The work spurred many discussions about privacy, security, and digital identity. The project website <http://walkmy.world/> has the learning events for the three years of the project. We may run the MOOC again soon in the future. Please feel free to use/remix any/all of the learning events if they're of value. - Ian _________________________ W. I’ve gotten some powerful feedback on this UG assignment: Set up two new, unique profiles on the same social network site (such as Twitter or Reddit) or networked gaming site (such as Steam or Xbox Live). For one profile, create an identity that is clearly female, of a non-white ethnicity, a non-Christian religion and/or non-heteronormative. For the other profile, present yourself as a young, heterosexual, white Christian cis male. Spend at least half an hour using each profile to publicly express political opinions, using common hashtags if appropriate. Use identical language to express identical opinions for both profiles. These opinions may be at any point on the political spectrum from left to right, but not explicitly abusive or offensive. Collect the responses each of your two profiles receives from the other members of the social network, analyze their similarities and differences, and discuss your impressions in a 1-2 page write-up and send to us via the Blackboard dropbox. Also be sure to delete your fake profiles once you have completed the assignment.
