Hi Michael, Ed, AoIR Folks,
How sad: First Monday has been such a role model of a journal, showing that with a dedicated editor and support, open access doesn't have to mean profit for publishing giants!
Ed, I appreciate FM going out on its own terms, but is there any chance it could be saved, do let us all know. Beyond that, a huge thanks from me, too; FM has been an integral part of Internet Studies globally and has supported so much important and diverse scholarship over its three decades! Thank you.
-Tama

Really sad to hear that First Monday is shutting down after 30 years of publication. It was one of the first journals devoted to internet research, and a true pioneer in open access: no fees, no paywalls, and authors retained their copyright.
My very first publication appeared there in 2004, and I know an entire generation of us got our start in its pages. Many thanks to Ed and everyone who contributed to building and sustaining such an important venue. End of an era.
