- For STS scholars in the Southern states and beyond, The Mid South Sociological Association (MSSA) is calling for papers for an 'Internet and Society' session. The conference is November 5-8 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At the present, the Internet and Society session is penciled in for November 5. It hopes to attract a broad range of multi-disciplinary work in this new and growing field. That means you don't have to be classified as a sociologist to attend or present. The conference site is http://www3.uakron.edu/hefe/meeting.htm The contact person for this session is Rick Duque at: rduque1@lsu.edu As a side note, there will be a workshop/roundtable on 'sociologists as activists' featuring local environmental activists and scholars in the movement, highlighting the unique social challenges of doing scholarly research on the front lines of the environmental movement. Other related topics will include gender and minority activism. Thank you Rick Duque Department of Sociology Louisiana State University rduque1@lsu.edu www.worldsci.net
