I wanted to let everyone planning on coming to Vancouver in October for our conference know that AoIR is once again hosting a doctoral colloquium the day prior to the conference. Last year's colloquium, organized by Marcus Foth, was a huge success, and those who participated found it a very rewarding experience. This year I'm handling the organizing. An official call for participants will be coming in April. Keep it in mind if you are going to be working on your Ph.D. dissertation around the time of the conference or have an outstanding student who will be. If you are interested in being a faculty mentor for this, please let me know off list. I was a mentor last year, and enjoyed it so much I took over the planning for this year's! The costs of this year's colloquium (including registration fees) are being covered by Microsoft Research.
