Emily, You may or may not have seen my previous postings on this list, as I have recently commenced PhD research into the use of the Internet by genealogists. I am interested in a broad range of online interactions by this group of hobbyists, such as their publishing, transacting, interacting, and educational usage of the Internet. I will also be delving into the 'darker' side of their Internet adoption, such as stolen identities, and the commercialisation of their amatuer labour/content. My main data collection for the project will be an online survey of genealogists in the USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, followed by some supporting case studies in each area.
