Instead of Python you could also use Rfacebook ( https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/Rfacebook/index.html) within R. R also has packages for other social media and of course all sorts of (statistical) analyses. R has a steep learning curve, but once you've mastered it you can use it for all types of research, not only for analysis but also for data collection through API's or web scraping (see https://cran.r-project.org/web/views/WebTechnologies.html).
