Yes, most countries (including the U.S.) have some laundry list of exemptions along the lines of "fair dealing." "Fair dealing" is NOT fair use. But, as I mentioned in a previous reply, Taiwan, surprisingly, actually does have a real live fair use provision. DLB
Australian law does not have a general âfair useâ defence but it does allow for "fair dealing" in the use of copyrighted material for the purpose of research or study. A quick Google suggests similar provisions under Taiwanese law.
