*Wednesday 28 September - 5am-7am EST // 10am-12noon BST // 3pm-5pm IST // 7-9pm AEST* How do journalists in Scotland and Australia understand and navigate cyber security risks? Where do cybersecurity threats to journalists come from? Does the law help or hinder them? Where do journalists go for cybersecurity support and resources? In this workshop we present the findings from research projects funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh (led by Professor Angela Daly, with Dr David McMenemy, University of Glasgow and Dr Elaine Robinson, University of Dundee) and Deakin University (led by Dr Monique Mann and Dr Diarmaid Harkin) exploring Scotland- and Australia-based journalists' experiences and encounters with cyber security and surveillance in their day-to-day practices. We will present insights from this research in the form of two reports (one on Australia and one on Scotland), followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with the following international experts: • Nik Sunil Williams - Index on Censorship • Dr Lokman Tsui - Citizen Lab • Alan Greig - BRIM Centre • Anjuli Shere - Digital Forensic Research Lab, Atlantic Council RSVP and more info: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/cybersecurity-and-journalism-workshop-tickets...
