The OII is delighted to announce that due to extra support provided by the Open Society Institute Information Programme, up to 4 further scholarships are available for students attending the 2004 OII Summer Doctoral Programme. This brings the total number of possible bursaries up to 11. The OSI scholarships will cover full course fees and will be available to students from Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe, former Soviet Union states, Africa and Southeast Asia, although students from other less affluent countries may also be considered. The research projects of the supported candidates should focus on issues of communications infrastructure policy, civil liberties in the digital environment, intellectual property rights and the public domain, or ICT global governance. The OII Summer Doctoral Programme is open to all current and prospective PhD students working in the field of Internet Studies. The Programme will run from 14th to 31st July and up to 25 places are available.
