English is (and remains) the lingua franca of academic work. Spanish might achieve a similar position over time but for now, it is English. I admit that we might miss important work and exclude some persons by having English as a working language but the costs of including more languages are too big, in my opinion. And what is the problem. I am a Scandinavian and we always have to do a lot of things in two languages: English and our own.
