Dear AoIR, Gohar F Khan just send a short analytical piece on the Australian Elections by comparing the Twitter profiles of two candidates with regard to - interactivity (measured by re-tweets, relies, user mentions) - influence and (measured by tweets favorited, re-tweets, user mentions) - popularity (measured by followers, following ratio, listed). **Is there an academic reference that someone can recommend regarding how to define/categorize and measure Twitter activities within an ego-centric network analysis??**
From a methodological point of view I find Khan's suggestion both interesting and difficult as he uses the same item to measure different characteristics.
Hope someone can help with this! The preliminary results seems interesting and can potentially be replicated in a large scale study? And could such analysis be used to predict election results? No doubt such questions may have been answered, but I am just trying to explore some fresh ideas.
