The Department of Sociological Studies at the University of Sheffield seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Digital Media & Society / Digital Sociology. The Department is currently developing its expertise and teaching and research excellence in the field of Digital Society. In Autumn 2016 it will launch a new MA programme in Digital Media and Society, and in Autumn 2017, it will co-ordinate a Faculty-wide BA Digital Media and Society. The Faculty of Social Science hosts a vibrant interdisciplinary Digital Society Network (DSN) which supports and enables Digital Society research. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to the Department’s portfolio by maintaining our high standards of teaching through delivering modules in Digital Sociology/Digital Media and Society, leading the new MA Digital Media and Society and contributing to the development of the new BA Digital Media and Society mentioned above. S/he will have an outstanding international track record as a scholar, including publications in high ranked international journals. S/he will hold a PhD in sociology or another relevant discipline and provide research leadership, attract external funding and research students to the Department.
