The IT University will be sponsoring an event on professional computer gaming on Friday, May 28, 2010. E-Sports & Cyberathleticism: European Edition is a one day workshop being held by the Center for Computer Games Research and the PhD School of the IT University of Copenhagen. The purpose of the event is to bring together researchers and people actually working - and playing - in e-sports to document via oral histories, artifacts, and discussions this emerging area. The event is free and open to the public. The workshop is comprised of three panels: Players, Teams & Leadership, and Communities & Spectatorship. Topics covered in the panel discussions will include player recruitment and retention, performance and play, leadership & coaching, team management, governmental politics of e-sports, physicality and movement, fans, spectatorship and broadcasting, tournaments, sponsorships, and life after e-sport. An exciting group of speakers will be offering a European perspective on e-sport in the 21st century and the event will foster conversation between researchers, the public, and e-sports professionals. We have a great list of speakers and full details, including schedule, can be found at http://esportseuropeanedition.wordpress.com/. Please feel free to distribute this announcement widely. Hope you can join us for this exciting event! T.L. Taylor & Emma Witkowski, organizers IT University of Copenhagen -- _____________________________________________ T.L.
