This may interest some of you (or your students): As you may know, Kaspersky runs an annual cybersecurity competition for students and researchers called the Secur’IT Cup. Students and researchers, ages 18-26, are invited to submit research abstracts, project prototypes, or detailed project descriptions for four different tracks this year: cybersecurity in extended reality (virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality); machine learning in cybersecurity; security awareness gamification; and smart home security (with an emphasis on IoT and 5G). More information can be found here: https://secureitcup.kaspersky.com/. The deadline to register is Friday, 30 October 2020, and the deadline to submit abstracts/prototypes/project descriptions is the following Friday, 6 November 2020. The competition’s finals will be held as an online event on Thursday, 3 December 2020. First, second, and third finalist prizes include a $10,000 USD grant; a trip to Kaspersky’s Security Analyst Summit (currently scheduled for April 2021); or a trip to a local cybersecurity conference, respectively. We hope you, your colleagues, your students, and/or research affiliates at your institutions will consider this opportunity. ________________________________________________________________ Dr Leonie Maria Tanczer Lecturer in International Security and Emerging Technologies Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy University College London Twitter: @leotanczt Website: http://www.leonietanczer.net/ Key Fingerprint: 9F21 A6A6 913E 1393 1BC6 73DA EBEF 07A4 F61F 79DA
