How can content creators, social platform companies, legacy television broadcasters, regulators, and other industry organisations work together to build a sustainable future for social media content creation in the UK? Content creation for social media platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook is a crucial part of the creative economy. Yet despite the low barriers to entry, creators still struggle to break into the sector, while broadcasters constantly try to keep up with new technological trends and revenue streams. Speakers from screen industry and digital platform companies like the BBC, YouTube, ITV, Channel 4, Screen Yorkshire, Black Creators Matter, and more will come together with content creators and current academics in the field for a series of panels exploring business models, production challenges, monetisation, skills, training, career pathways, and working conditions. Together, we will ask, What new skills and training are needed to facilitate career progression in content creation? How can industry stakeholders benefit from the creative potential of creators and ensure diversity and inclusivity in their industries? This is an opportunity to share business strategies, network with other industry stakeholders and creators, and build a vibrant community of creators in the UK's diverse regions.
