Dear colleagues, Here is an invitation that fosters dialogue and connection about the current state of digital methods for Internet research in Brazil π§π· This hybrid event will occur on 31 January 2025 from 2 pm to 4:15 pm in room FWB 1.11 at the Franklin-Wilkins Building, Waterloo Campus, King's College London. What are the emerging creative methods that leverage the web, its technologies and data to address research problems? Which digital methods are being implemented, and for what purpose? What are their relevance and broader implications for studying digital media and culture? Who is developing research software to study digital culture? This roundtable will address these questions and what one can understand as βmethodsβ when advancing research with the web as a methodological landscape. In short, the panellists will discuss mapping initiatives and labs across five Brazilian regions, the convergences and possibilities of connecting digital methods with traditional (Digital) Media and Communication Studies schools, and a brief history of software development for digital methods research in Brazil and its challenges.
