The Department of Mass Communication at the American University of Sharjah seeks early career/emerging scholars to fill two full-time faculty positions in the department beginning in Fall 2023. Applicants who are expected to complete their Ph.D. by September 1, 2023, are welcome to apply. Successful applicants should have a doctoral degree in communication or a related field from an accredited Western university and are expected to demonstrate an emerging research agenda. Applicants should be able to teach in one or more of the following areas: production skills, digital media, communication theory, research methods, and/or other communication courses including social media production and crisis communication. Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate experience and strength in their ability to teach diverse courses across the department’s curriculum, and who demonstrate the ability to bridge teaching knowledge and skills-based courses. A strong commitment to teaching students from diverse cultural and national backgrounds is expected. Experience in teaching advertising and public relations is advantageous. The teaching load is six courses per year and committee work is required.
