Hello Monica, (I hope doing 'reply to all' is the right thing to do?) Yes I find his blog very interesting in its candour; actually he wasn't put in jail, and if you look at today's post apparently he's avoided jail now. The arrest happened before the public exposure in the MSM. But clearly it wouldn't help his case to be continuing to post drug related material, but he did so anyway recently (http://www.sixthseal.com/2006/04/sixthsealcom_4th_birthday.html#comments) Yes: he is obviously a risk-taker, I reckon he needs the attention for whatever personal reason. Actually, in my observations people tend to NOT leave comments in old posts; I think it's because they are also seeking feedback (from the author and/or other commentors), and are less likely to get in from older posts. I reckon it's because the subject matter is quite rarely covered: a lot of the more recent comments are about finding/comparing pills/drugs. I think people put in a comment because they’re hoping for some useful feedback and they don’t know of another place. Thanks Julian, I had accessed sixthseal a couple of years ago - it was the only website I could find that had pictures of crystal meth smoking using a special glass pipe; I needed pictures for a display I was putting together on the drug! It was a fascinating website, interesting that it has lead to him serving time in prison for possession, yet he STILL wants to continue blogging. Interesting to see how people are using the comments under that 2003 post to talk about their drug use, and that this has continued for 3 years in the same post. Is this normal for blog posts? thanks monica Monica Barratt PhD Candidate National Drug Research Institute Curtin University GPO Box U1987 PERTH WA 6845 t: +61 8 9266 2735 f: +61 8 9266 1611 m: +61 407 778 938 e: monica.barratt@postgrad.curtin.edu.au -----Original Message----- From: air-l-bounces@listserv.aoir.org [mailto:air-l-bounces@listserv.aoir.org] On Behalf Of Julian Hopkins Sent: Thursday, 4 May 2006 11:25 AM To: air-l@listserv.aoir.org Subject: Re: [Air-l] Scholarly databases for internet studies? Dear Monica, I don't know of a relevant database, but this blog (www.sixthseal.com) recounting the personal use of drugs has a wide readership and discussions in the comments. It has been going for three years and is very interesting. Recently, the Malaysian author stopped posting about drugs as he was exposed in a Malaysian newspaper as 'promoting drug use' etc. But there are still many posts available - e.g. http://www.sixthseal.com/2003/02/pill_report_white_question_mar.html#comment s Regards, ++++++++++ Julian Hopkins Lecturer - ADP HELP University College +60 3 2095 8791 x2913 -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
