CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2 PhD SCHOLARSHIPS IN DIGITAL GOVERNANCE / GOVERNMENT AT THE HERTIE SCHOOL CENTRE FOR DIGITAL GOVERNANCE<https://www.hertie-school.org/centre-for-digital-governance/> IN BERLIN, GERMANY The Hertie School is offering two three-year scholarships for exceptional candidates to pursue a full-time PhD in the field of digital governance starting from September 2020. The successful candidates will be affiliated with the Centre for Digital Governance at the Hertie School. The Centre's research focuses on two core areas: (1) public policy and governance, with issues such as government-business relations, regulation and ethical implications of digitalisation, as well as (2) public management and administration, with a focus on transforming government (policy, service delivery) through digitalisation. Situated in the heart of Berlin, the Hertie School prepares doctoral candidates for academic careers in leading universities or as highly-skilled professionals in government, business and civil society. Our doctoral education provides rigorous academic training. The Centre for Digital Governance offers its PhD researchers a unique opportunity to become part of a vibrant, interdisciplinary, and diverse academic community. Within the framework of a Digital Governance Research Colloquium, hosted in cooperation with the School's Data Science Lab, the Centre brings together scholars and practitioners to present their research on digital governance, digital government and AI. In addition, the Centre is part of international research projects (e.g. TROPICO and Authoritarianism 2.0) and organises public events on a variety of topics with high-level partner institutions from business, civil society as well as government. PhD researchers will thus have the opportunity to work closely and exchange ideas with (senior) scholars from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds. We invite candidates with exceptionally strong academic track records to apply – those with a master’s degree (or equivalent) in the social sciences or related fields – and who will provide a stimulating and engaging research environment in our growing Centre. Research proposals should focus on one of the Centre's two core research areas; prospective candidates are strongly advised to explore the research profile of the faculty as well as the research projects hosted at the Centre for Digital Governance before applying.
