The BA in Communication includes course offerings that range from interpersonal and public relations to communication to broadcasting, new media, electronic communication, and everything in between. Undergraduate students select from one of three concentrations: Communication and Media Studies, Strategic Communication, and Multimedia Journalism. Each option fosters the development of knowledge in communication theory and criticism as well as the development of practical skills. Course offerings for the Master of Arts program include theory, criticism, research, practice, and ethics in communication. The program prepares students for service in public and professional spheres, on local, national, and international levels. Students develop competencies to work in professional careers in areas such as business, law, education, media, government, social and human services, and technology. Graduates also pursue doctoral degrees in Communication and related fields. http://www.csueastbay.edu/class/departments/communication/index.html DUTIES OF THE POSITION: The successful candidate will teach coursework at all levels in the Department of Communication with a primary focus on quantitative communication research (emphasizing social media content); degree coursework within the three program concentrations of Strategic Communication, Communication and Media Studies, and Digital Media Journalism; and other coursework as assigned. When necessary, the successful candidate will lead in the design and conduct surveys (and other research) for the Department’s various needs in serving students, and the Department and University’s goals. They will mentor and teach a diverse student body, and is expected to respect the varied (inter)disciplinary specialties represented in the department. In addition to teaching, all faculty are required to advise students, assist the Department with administrative and/or committee work, and are expected to assume campus-wide committee responsibilities.
