Hi all,
I've been a long time subscriber of this list, first time poster. I'm consistently impressed with the quality of information, links, and discussions that do the rounds here :)
I'd like to share a call for a workshop at this years' World Wide Web conference that may be of interest. The deadline is in two days (18th Jan) so apologies for the short notice, but perhaps if you're looking for somewhere to submit a work-in-progress, vision paper, or small project report along the workshop themes, this could be a good opportunity.
*Workshop on Web Observatories, Social Machines and Decentralisation*
http://www.sociam.org/wow2017/
Topics include: analysing and understanding social media users and data; data sharing, re-use of data and applications; study of social machines; decentralisation of Web infrastructure and services; emerging research challenges when these are combined with the Internet of Things (IoT); the challenges of interoperability and distributed analytics across the growing number of Web services, Web Observatories, and most recently, IoT devices. We will also discuss the pressing issues around the decentralisation of Web infrastructure and social machines, with a specific focus on the decentralisation of scholarly communications.
The workshop accepts HTML submissions, as well as old-fashioned PDF.
The workshop is in Perth at the beginning of April. Hope to see you there!
