*The Open University of Israel* *Open Rank Senior Faculty Position Opening* *Media and Information Lab* The Open University of Israel is seeking a senior faculty member to establish and head an interdisciplinary media and information lab, for research and teaching in new media and related areas, such as big data, information studies, network cultures, or digital sociology. The media lab will be an inter-departmental unit that will carry out teaching and research activities in several disciplines including: communication, management, psychology, education, design, and information and computer science. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to establish and to head a lab that will be a hub of teaching and research activities at the highest international academic standards. The search is led by the Department of Sociology, Political Science and Communication. However, given the interdisciplinary nature of the position, the faculty member’s final departmental affiliation will be determined based on his or her disciplinary background. Academic rank (lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor or full professor) will be commensurate with experience. Requirements: - PhD in Social or Computer Science, or a relevant research discipline - Excellent international academic research capabilities in the field of new media or computational social sciences, demonstrated through publications in leading journals and/or conferences - Proven international research experience in a media and/or information lab - Experience in applying methodologies and innovative research methods in a media and information lab setting - Experience in developing digital tools for social research - Fluency in Hebrew, and demonstrated ability to develop learning materials in Hebrew. - Excellent interpersonal skills The expected employment start date is October, 2016 (flexible).
