This is a call for all those interested in the sociological side of the Internet to flock together in Toronto on Friday, October 17, 1130-1230. We'll roost at the Barrister's Bar of the Hilton Hotel, University Ave & Queen St. It offers a relaxed lounge environment, good for an informal meet and great with people who share similar interests. The occasion is Internet Research 4.0: the annual meeting of the international and interdisciplinary Association for Internet Researchers. The conference seems like a great opportunity to meet fellow sociologists who are Internet minded. Why at this 1130 time? We don't want to clash with other BOF groups who are meeting at 0800. Moreover, as sociologists, we will surely be out doing participant-observation of the Toronto nightlife to the wee hours beforehand. So, please come visit with your fellow sociologists. Some of us will probably continue out for lunch on the funky Queen Street strip. And while registration is not necessary, just to get an idea of who and how many are showing up at 1130-1230, please drop Tracy Kennedy an e-line. <tkennedy@netwomen.ca>, Thanks, Barry and Tracy _____________________________________________________________________ Barry Wellman Professor of Sociology NetLab Director wellman at chass.utoronto.ca http://www.chass.utoronto.ca/~wellman Centre for Urban & Community Studies University of Toronto 455 Spadina Avenue Toronto Canada M5S 2G8 fax:+1-416-978-7162 To live is to network; to network is to live. _____________________________________________________________________
