I am working my way through archiving State of the Net <https://archive.org/details/sotn2025>. My method involves transcribing a session's audio in Whisper (v2 large model, beam 10) which does a pretty good job of interpretation, then DeepSeek for speaker/paragraph formatting (both ChatGPT and Perplexity fail at this task), and then Descript for syncing and further manual correction, before outputting to transcript, captions, and then running through ChatGPT for a summary. On this one, interestingly, DeepSeek ground to halt two thirds of the way through, deleted the work so far, just saying "Let's talk about something else." I was able to run the audio through Descript, not so accurate, so, while correcting, I actually did an edit, taking out the ums and ahs, of which there were a lot. *YOUTUBE <https://youtu.be/F4dYC7HCW34> | TRANSCRIPT <https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbDBiOUhOY1B5eVZrUW1zQVdEQXBQTk80a2NqUXxBQ3Jtc0tudGV0eUZ4eVhQOFRpbjlmRXdrcE1tNF9Zakxzc0dlNnVCSzNjb0YtajZFT1I3dFg4V2lZRjdNREF6WWtQemF0VFZVeXVQcU1SZ1kzNG9XWWhQNHVfZThhTC1qaEpTYkZobTVEamIxWUY5b3BMeU5uSQ&q=https%3A%2F%2Farchive.org%2Fdownload%2Fsotn2025%2F11_The_Geopolitics_of_the_Internet_TRANSCRIPT.pdf&v=F4dYC7HCW34> | SUMMARY <https://www.youtube.com/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbVIwdWt6UDNUQl9oZ0piazJPSkpjS0R3d0pGUXxBQ3Jtc0ttWXJ1NDlRUFVRWGFzeVpnMVptLVRRclpmeXM0d1VDV09lRk1VbFFNdFhSazllckJlNGxNTnZhT3ZReXJyVUpfcXhlckZrZjJpVEszc1FQUTdzX2hFbFhKS0cyb3NvV1FOYmpraUVLYWpmbHhITVdIUQ&q=https%3A%2F%2Farchive.org%2Fdownload%2Fsotn2025%2F11_The_Geopolitics_of_the_Internet_SUMMARY.pdf&v=F4dYC7HCW34>* No surprise, panelist Milton Mueller was mostly at odds with his DC colleagues.
