The School of Communication in Dublin City University is pleased to announce a funded PhD scholarship, covering a four-year duration. Successful candidates will receive a tax-free stipend of €25,000 per annum plus a full fee waiver. Additional funding is available for conference travel and paid teaching experience to support career development. These fellowships will explore the intersections of *identities (national, transnational, gender-based, indigeneity-related, etc.), cultural production, and digital technologies*. We welcome proposals engaging critically and interdisciplinarily with topics such as, but not limited to: - The formation and transformation of collective identities through digital cultural production, which includes music and sound, recorded and/or performative/live, - Comparative analyses of digital cultural production in shaping identities across different contexts, including genre formation, production models (independent, DIY, music industry, platforms), and assisted via Gen-AI models - The role of digital media technologies in identitarian conflicts, including radical, alternative, and resistant identities, such as music and political struggle, sound and activism Candidates should ideally hold a *Master’s degree in a relevant field*, though practice-based doctoral projects are eligible.
