Dear AoIR Community, I would like to bring your attention to a recent special issue call for papers that might be of interest for some, namely in Telecommunications Policy on the topic of "Policy Responses to Generative AI" and edited by Jonathan Obar, Madelyn Rose Sanfilippo and me (Christoph Lutz). Generative AI is affecting politics, industry, education, national security, and society, raising urgent questions about law, governance, and regulation. This special issue of Telecommunications Policy invites empirical, conceptual, and theoretical contributions that explore how policy can and should respond to generative AI. Comparative and integrative perspectives are especially welcome. Potential topics include (non-exhaustive): * Synthetic media (e.g. deepfakes) * AI fairness, transparency, and bias * Intellectual property and ownership * Content moderation * Risk and security standards * Privacy and reputation management * Public participation in AI governance * Critical and cultural approaches to AI governance The link to the special issue is available here: [1]https://www.sciencedirect.com/special-issue/325753/policy-resp onses-to-generative-ai Submission information: * Submission deadline: 28 February 2026 * Submissions via EditorialManager (select article type "VSI: Policy for Generative AI") All submissions deemed suitable will undergo double-blind peer review. Accepted articles will be published online immediately in regular issues, as well as highlighted in the Special Issue collection. For inquiries regarding fit, please contact lead editor Jonathan Obar (jaobar@yorku.ca). We look forward to your contributions!
