[Air-L] Twitter quote from Nunberg

Dear AoIRists, in articles on Twitter in various internet media I often come across a quote from Geoffrey Nunberg who allergedly called Twitter hashtags an emoticon of sorts and 'plain stupid' (e.g. here http://gizmodo.com/5869538/how-the-hashtag-is-ruining-the-english-language) However, they do not give a source, and I cannot locate it. Does anyone know if Geoff Nunberg really said anything like that, and if yes, where? It seems to me that wider context would be important in this situation. Thanks! Daria -- Wiss.
