Hi, all, I would just like to say that I have found Documenting the Now <https://www.docnow.io>'s work and white papers on archival ethics to be very helpful over the years in my own research. Though an election is not the same as a social movement, it may be worth consulting Doc Now's "Ethical Considerations for Archiving Social Media Content Generated by Contemporary: <https://www.docnow.io/docs/docnow-whitepaper-2018.pdf>Social Movements: Challenges, Opportunities, and Recommendations <https://www.docnow.io/docs/docnow-whitepaper-2018.pdf>." On the matter of how to actually capture Insta stuff, you (and/or your student) may want to play around with Webrecorder. This project <https://artsandculture.google.com/exhibit/excellences-perfections-preserving-social-media-with-webrecorder-rhizome/WQJSTPJVh-JgJw?hl=en>which relied in part on Webrecorder (from a little bit ago) may still be of interest. Webrecorder has recently undergone a name change and is now called Conifer, but this link <https://conifer.rhizome.org/despens/amalia-ulman-excellences--perfections>speaks to some of the ups and downs of using it. Full disclosure, I've primarily used Webrecorder/Conifer for Twitter archival work, but if you're working on a desktop, you may find it useful esp if you're trying to get some video content. In addition to this discussion, does anyone have any ethical guidance/thoughts to share about gathering Instagram post? More specifically data Collection from open accounts applying a specific hashtag.
Sorry for high jacking, but I suspect considering ethical matters might be needed for your student too...

I have always used https://instaloader.github.io/index.html and it works perfectly.

Hello all,
can you recommend a data collection tool that is more dynamic than rss.app? One of my graduate students wants to capture images, videos, and discussions on two separate accounts during the fall election season.
I would very much appreciate any advice you can give, DeNel
