Hi Cristina, This is not a direct answer to your question, but just a note about methodology: The PhD researcher might consider whether it is necessary to do video -based interviews. I mention this since there’s a strong history of text-based interviewing, and capturing video may not be as critical as is often presumed, in terms of building connections, facilitating meaningful interactions and conversations, and eliciting/collecting useful information from participants. Considering what the hoped-for outcome of the interaction is as well as how it will (or could be) analyzed, there might be alternatives that are just as meaningful but less tricky, in terms of technical access and data protection. FWIW, and all best, Annette ----------------------------------------::------------------------------------------------ Annette N. I am emailing you because I am working with a PhD researcher who is preparing to conduct her field work. She is aiming to conduct BNIM interviews with participants' in China, but was hoping to do them online. Apparently, Zoom is no longer accessible in China without VPN. Do you know of any video/audio call software that works in China and is GDPR compliant? best wishes, Cristina *Dr Cristina Costa* Associate Professor Co-Director (MA in Research Methods) in the *Durham Research Methods Centre* <https://www.dur.ac.uk/researchmethodscentre/> SoE Student Recruitment, Marketing & Internationalisation Coordinator Durham University School of Education Office: Ed 213a Leazes Road Durham DH1 1TA Email: cristina.costa@durham.ac.uk Twitter: @cristinacost Website: www.socialtheoryapplied.com<http://www.socialtheoryapplied.com> Staff Profile <https://www.dur.ac.uk/directory/profile/?id=18517> _______________________________________________ The Air-L@listserv.aoir.org mailing list is provided by the Association of Internet Researchers http://aoir.org Subscribe, change options or unsubscribe at: http://listserv.aoir.org/listinfo.cgi/air-l-aoir.org Join the Association of Internet Researchers: http://www.aoir.org/
