The Department of Communication and Media has spaces available for a limited number exceptional students to begin their PhD or MS/PhD studies in Communication and Rhetoric in August 2015. In addition to the application form, applicants for the PhD are required to provide the following: -GRE general test scores -For non-native speakers, TOEFL score of 230 CBT/88 iBT/570 PBT (IELTS 6.5 or PTE 60) -Statement of background and goals -Academic transcripts from undergraduate and graduate institutions (if applicable) -Evidence of teaching experience (if applicable) -Two letters of recommendation from persons who can comment on the applicant’s scholarly preparation and potential -Writing sample (an academic essay or a portion of a thesis) There are both teaching assistantship and fellowship opportunities for our Ph.D. applicants. This funding is very competitive and both covers full tuition and offers a stipend, which is currently set at a rate of $18,500 for the fall and spring semesters of the academic year for teaching assistantships.
