We are seeking an outstanding scholar with research and teaching interests in Journalism. Successful candidates will demonstrate a scholarly interest in research areas such as, but not limited to: the role of visual communication in journalism; the emergence of data, visualization and computational forms of journalism; the sociology of news; the flow of news through formal channels and informal/social networks; the development, roles and influences of journalism in relation to legal, social, political, economic, and technological processes, events, and trends; and economic and regulatory issues related to journalism innovation. Successful candidates for this position will demonstrate a commitment to sustaining a vigorous program of original research and publication with potential for external funding; show promise of excellence in graduate-level teaching and advising (both M.A. and Ph.D.); and demonstrate the capacity and commitment to teach undergraduate journalism context courses and professionally-oriented journalism skills courses in areas including, but not limited to: digital/interactive journalism, visual/video journalism, information visualization, journalism history, and journalism ethics. Meaningful professional journalism experience and the capacity to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of a rapidly evolving curriculum focused on innovation in journalism are highly desirable. The salary will depend on the candidate's qualifications, consistent with collegiate and university policies.
