[Air-L] Query about author websites

Because there are so many internet savvy authors here on air-l, I told a colleague who asked me a question about ways to promote books using the web that I'd forward his question here. I established my non-promotional bona fides with my first book, which was kind of relased in secret ;-), so I could probably use some ideas for author-generated web promotion too.
