This is an opportunity for “smart city” scholars based in the United States… (with apologies to those based outside the US) *Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in the* *“Social and Environmental Implications of Smart Cities*” *at the University of Calgary, Canada* The University of Calgary’s Urban Studies Program seeks a Fulbright Canada scholar who will join a collaborative, comparative, interdisciplinary research project on the “Social and Environmental Implications of Smart Cities.” Urban Studies is an interdisciplinary program, administratively housed in the Department of Geography in the Faculty of Arts. The disciplinary specialization of the Fulbright scholar is open, but should entail expertise in the social sciences or humanities relevant to understanding the development and governance of socio-technical systems. The Fulbright scholar will have the opportunity to work with members of the Smart Cities Research Group as well as the Urban Studies Research Group, including faculty members from the Departments of Anthropology-Archaeology, Geography, History, Political Science, and Sociology as well as the Faculties of Business, Environmental Design, Medicine, and Social Work. We seek a colleague who can contribute to the academic life of the University of Calgary’s community of urban scholars by teaching a seminar in his or her area of expertise, conduct research in the Social and Environmental Implications of Smart Cities, and support the development of interdisciplinary connections across and beyond the Faculty of Arts.
