The China-focused researcher will analyze formal and informal trade links between China and the three countries, and the expansion of the Chinese internet (infrastructure, platforms and services) outside China. The Kazakhstan-focused researcher will analyze trade links between Kazakhstan and China, and the expansion of the Chinese internet (infrastructure, platforms and services) in Kazakhstan and possibly Central Asia. The ideal candidates will have experience in researching the digital sector in their country of focus, an existing network of contacts in the tech field, be fluent in the countries’ languages, and be open to collaborative and mixed methods research.
