I highly second Maurice's recommendation to use R. I have used Ncapture in the past but it is super limited. Facebook and Twitter have open APIs so they're super conducive for scraping data with R. For my current research I just started using the Rtwitter and have found it to be fairly easy to use once I learned basics in R (I have no coding experience and was able to figure it out). This site is very useful for using the Rfacebook package: https://bigdataenthusiast.wordpress.com/2016/03/19/mining-facebook-data-usin.... -Paige <http://about.me/paigealfonzo> [Paige Alfonzo on about.me] Paige Alfonzo about.me/paigealfonzo ________________________________ From: Air-L <air-l-bounces@listserv.aoir.org> on behalf of Maurice Vergeer <m.vergeer@maw.ru.nl> Sent: Wednesday, April 19, 2017 10:57 PM To: mona arslan Cc: air-l@listserv.aoir.org Subject: Re: [Air-L] Nvivo for facebook pages Instead of Python you could also use Rfacebook ( https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/Rfacebook/index.html) within R. R also has packages for other social media and of course all sorts of (statistical) analyses. R has a steep learning curve, but once you've mastered it you can use it for all types of research, not only for analysis but also for data collection through API's or web scraping (see https://cran.r-project.org/web/views/WebTechnologies.html). I would be very happy to talk to anyone who has managed to capture content from facebook page for NVIVO. Facebook pages as a data set specifically is my interest( not groups or conversation and not as a PDF, but as a dataset)
Many thanks in advance!
