Dear all You may also want to take a look at The Virtual World Conference (TVWC) which is held annually in Second Life: http://www.thevirtualworldconference.org/ We published a report on social collaborative conferencing in SL evaluating the user experiences of TVWC and providing suggestions for future SL conferences. We argue that we should make use of the distinct features of virtual worlds as opposed to merely simulating the characteristics of physical conferences.. and stop treating technology as a substitute for face-to-face meetings. It's held in Second Life and is an annual conference, going on five years now. A few years back, I was a proposal reviewer for it, and this year, I was a moderator. I've worked with those who have put together, coordinated, and promoted the conference, so I have some info that proves helpful. I have been to meetings in Second Life and found the experience to be superior to video conferencing and other alternatives for getting people together. I would be interested to know what others have tried for online conferences and especially about any experiences with conferences in Second Life. thank you, Jim Parker President American Communication Association Asst.
