The University of Michigan is hosting a hybrid conference on Social Media and Society in India, April 8-9, 2024, featuring a host of speakers to discuss various ways in which social media is impacting contemporary life in India. The event is in its fourth iteration at the University of Michigan and is a premier venue for conversations around social media and society in India. We invite student researchers who are interested in the intersection of social media influencers and social media practices in India to submit position papers under the following themes: - Social media platforms and influencers’ practices in India, e.g., patterns of behavior, i.e. how they use different social media platform features. - Influencer strategies and impact, i.e. how they gain and maintain popularity, how their influence gets operationalized. - Collaborative influencing; social media influencers’ impacts on the social, political, cultural, and economic landscapes in the regions.
