Twice in the past few days, enterprising editors have put out requests for proposed chapter submissions to books they hope to enter. In neither case, did they say who their publisher would be: contracted, probable, or intended. Yet many scholars want to know this information before they submit possible chapters. While we all want to be published, we all want to be read, and we all want to be under the covers with kindred folks. This means that as a courtesy to hardworking authors, aspiring editors should name their publishers, or if they don't have a firm one in mind, at least mention whom they intend to approach.
