An Invitation Arab Women, Media, and Sexuality Conference We are delighted to invite you to the Arab Women, Media, and Sexuality conference, to take place in York on May 26th, 2012. This international conference is hosted and organised by the Centre for Women’s Studies at the University of York. It investigates the interdisciplinary study of sexuality, media, and gender from an Arab perspective and the intersection between all three. AWMS conference aims to provide grounds for discussion and analysis of these three disciplines and to encourage debate, research and networking in these fields. Due to the unanticipated volume of interest, the conference will run concurrent panels on the following themes: - Cultural Products: TV and Talk Shows - Cultural Products: Music, Novels, and Poetry - Cultural Products: Advertisements and Drama - On Veiling and Unveiling - East – West - Resistance - New Media The panels will feature papers by delegates traveling to York from Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Portugal, Denmark, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Turkey, Canada, and the UK. A few delegates will be offering papers through long-distance conferencing. The event itself will be hosted in the Berrick Saul Building in the University of York campus, and we expect the day to start at 9 AM and to finish at 6:30 PM.
