Dear List Members, I was preparing for a knowledge society course which seemed to have an overbearing focus on Manuel Castells, Elull J., and Jean Francois Lyotard. Although i am not too familiar with these areas I was wondering if any of you have engaged with the knowledge society debate either in your work or in the classroom and what frameworks and approaches were preferable. Has someone engaged with Data (access, storage, retrieval) in some connection (not to knowledge production per se) but to knowledge management (if using such a managerial term in academia is appropriate) as well as the 'network' in the knowledge network. Being new to this i was also wondering if there are some essential readings you would suggest in engaging with these debates. If there is an exhaustive biblio could you kindly forward them and any readings you may have/suggest. I remember reading something similar on the lists at aoir (a while back) but have not been able to find those mails or in the archives online (weirdly). :( perhaps i am searching with the wrong keywords.
