Dear Kathleen, I would highly appreciate a pdf copy of your chapter to incorporate in my teaching. Many thanks for the link you provide – it’s making me think of creative ways to teach the topic to the next academic class. It can be found in this book: http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.5749/j.ctt14jxw02, but I can also send along a PDF to anyone who is interested. I also memes in my teaching to help students investigate some of the ways in which memes as a visual language can be used to confront current events. I like to ask students to work in pairs to make memes that could be used as part of the conversation around a current issue that is important to them. We tend to use simple websites like https://memegenerator.net/ to generate these memes in class. I'm taking notes on the rest of this thread as well! Hi people of AoIR,
I am currently supervising a student who is looking at how students use memes on Facebook to engage with campus culture/politics on particular university sites.
Can anyone point me to the most recent meme literature/theories/studies/concepts?
Your help is much appreciated! Thanks, Anja
