Just published: E-text. Oxford Research Encyclopedia Literature (Online-only). The article deals with the notion E-text traveling from alphabetic writing and print, starting with Roberto Busa, to the binary alphabet, the choice machine of Turing and finally entering the landscape of networked digital media of today. It is an attempt to build a bridge between digitized text and born digital and networked materials. Thus, the notion (and the article) passes through three different concepts of the computer and a great number of theories of text.
