About us
The Professorship for Participatory Technology Design is based at the MCTS, a cross-faculty integrative research center focusing on the interface between technology and society, and is affiliated to the Department of Architecture. Our research focuses on how science and technology shape urbanization and city life, paying particular attention to current infrastructural transitions, as well as to new forms of public participation and experimental collaboration. We are currently initiating various research projects exploring different aspects of so-called smart cities, especially involving the shaping of digital infrastructures and interfaces and the challenge of technical democracy. Your tasks Your main responsibility will consist in developing and writing a research project proposal on the spatial dynamics of algorithmic urbanism (smart infrastructures) in collaboration with colleagues from MCTS and the Department of Architecture. You will actively engage in MCTS academic life, organize academic events and support activities of the professorship. Who can apply? Applicants should hold a masters degree in the social sciences, geography, architecture or related areas. Familiarity with science and technology studies, as well as knowledge of theories and methods of the social sciences is a requisite.
All applicants should have very good communication skills in both German and English and the ability to work both individually and in teams.
Experience in proposal writing is desirable.
