To all who intend to participate in AOIR.6 in Chicago: Consider joining our pre-conference workshop on the mobile Internet Wednesday October 5 (not October 6 as it says on the registration site) from 8am to 12pm. Participation in the workshop is free if you participate in AOIR.6 and you register for the workshop when you register for the conference. Please se description below. Candidates should submit a brief position paper of 1-2 pages to the organisers if they intend to participate with a paper or a creative presentation or a problem proposal / problem scenario for discussion. We welcome presentations of creative uses or hands-on demonstrations of problems and potentials of the mobile Internet. Therefore we hope to see scholars as well as practitioners among the participants. The workshop will be open for other interested participants. Minimal number of participants is 7. Deadline for submissions of position papers and for sign-up for interested participants: According to AOIR.6 general deadlines. THE MOBILE INTERNET. Problems and potentials The workshop will explore theories and analysis and creative or technological presentations on socio-cultural aspects of the mobile Internet. The main focus is on topics regarding e.g. mobility, information exchange, interpersonal communication, surveillance, democratic potential, media convergence, user driven innovation, industrial interest in the mobile Internet, plus aspects of uses related to age, gender, and culture. Other suggestions are welcome.
